Nivea Magalhaes is an economic geologist with diverse range of experience in ore deposits. She obtained a Bachelor (2011) and Master (2013) of Geology degrees from the University of São Paulo (Brazil), and a PhD (2019) from the University of Maryland, College Park (USA). She held positions at the University of Toronto and the University of St Andrews prior to joining the University of Exeter as a postdoctoral researcher. Her research is focused on using mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, and stable isotopes to understand the origin and evolution of mineral deposits, in particular those related to critical metals (e.g. Ni and Co).
