On 20–21 May 2026, members of the ENICON consortium attended the EIT RawMaterials Summit in Brussels, one of Europe’s leading events dedicated to raw materials innovation, sustainability, and industrial competitiveness.
The summit brought together representatives from industry, research organisations, policymakers, and European projects to discuss the future of critical raw materials and the role they play in supporting the green and digital transitions. Key topics included resource security, sustainable mining and refining, battery materials, processing technologies, and strengthening European value chains.
For ENICON, the event provided an excellent opportunity to engage with stakeholders from across the raw materials sector, exchange knowledge, and gain insights into the latest developments shaping the European innovation landscape. Discussions throughout the summit highlighted the growing importance of developing sustainable and resilient supply chains for critical raw materials—an objective that lies at the heart of the ENICON project.
Participation in the EIT RawMaterials Summit also enabled the consortium to strengthen connections with other initiatives working towards increasing Europe's capacity to produce battery-grade nickel and cobalt from both primary and secondary resources. These exchanges support ENICON's mission to advance innovative hydrometallurgical processing technologies, improve resource efficiency, and contribute to a more resilient European battery value chain.
The ENICON consortium would like to thank the organisers for a successful event and looks forward to continuing these valuable exchanges with the wider raw materials community.
